Drive-up reception of Holy Communion to be suspended

Dear Ones in Christ,

We’re all aware of the brutally hot weather that has descended upon us, and perhaps none are more aware of how dangerous and uncomfortable that heat is than our beloved Michael Ponce and Eileen Godollei.  They have so faithfully stood with me outside the church each Saturday during all these months as we’ve ministered the Holy Eucharist to you as you’ve come for the drive through reception of Holy Communion.  Neither Michael, Eileen nor I can stand this amount of heat without it affecting us physically.

Therefore, starting this coming Saturday, June 19, I am permanently suspending the drive-through reception of Holy Communion.

In addition, I am moving the 3:30 p.m. Saturday Mass to 5:00 p.m. starting the same day.  That Mass will continue to follow the Covid-19 protocols which require the wearing of masks throughout the entire Mass as well as maintaining a six-feet social distancing between people not of the same household.  Of course, we will continue to receive Holy Communion in the hand only, and your monetary gifts will be placed in the baskets which are at the two west-side doors.  We once again are distributing parish bulletins, but those will be handed to you at the end of the mass.

These changes will also be posted in our bulletin as well as our parish website.

Blessings upon you all,

Fr. Jay
