Church Events, January 2019

To start 2019, we have a variety of events being offered at our church as well as throughout Tucson. This month's events provide an opportunity to grow deeper in the Catholic faith. Here is what is scheduled:

Theology Uncorked

Pope Francis – A Man of his Word

Monday, January 7 | 6:30 p.m.
St. Frances Cabrini Parish Hall

This film is a personal journey with Pope Francis rather than a biographical documentary about him. The Pope’s ideas and message are central to this film. It sets out to present his work of reform and his answers to today’s global questions. From his deep concern for the poor and wealth inequality, to his involvement in environmental issues and social justice, Pope Francis engages the audience face-to-face and calls for peace.

Please join us as we see and hear Pope Francis’ vision for our world and our lives.

To Be Determined

Monday, January 21 | 6:30 p.m.
St. Frances Cabrini Parish Hall

Information on the next Theology Uncorked, scheduled for January 21, will be published as soon as it is available. Check back to this page soon.

Open Wide Our Hearts - Faith and Racism

Three-Part Series
Jordan Ministry Center,
48 N. Tucson Blvd., #104

In November 2018, the Bishops of the United States issued a new pastoral letter on the sin of racism, asking us to recall that we are all truly brothers and sisters, equally made in the image of God. This three-part series of study and discussion sessions will provide participants with an opportunity to read the document and share their insights, concerns, questions, and hopes.

This series of classes will be offered twice: Tuesday morning sessions (from 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.) will begin on January 15; Thursday evening sessions (from 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.) will begin on January 10. The cost for the series is $25 (scholarships are available); a copy of the pastoral letter and light refreshments will be provided.

Moving Beyond Doubt: A Busy Person's Retreat

Wednesday, January 16 | 6:30 p.m.
Jordan Ministry Center,
48 N. Tucson Blvd., #104

Presented by Brother Silas Henderson, SDS

Having doubt is part of the way we try to make sense of life. However, doubt also can become a heavy, dark cloud that obscures the light of the sun, casting shadows upon everything we do, believe and feel. Faith is the antidote for life's doubts and the wind that blows away the grey clouds, allowing the light to shine again on us -- and in us.

This mini retreat is designed to help you understand your feelings of doubt and move beyond them to a light-filled vist of faith, hope and love.

The cost for the retreat is $15 and participants will receive a copy of Bro. Silas' book Moving Beyond Doubt. To get more information or to register, call (502) 623-2653 or go to the website, www.jordanministry.org.
